This is how we achieve recycling water that is suitable for life

Multiple actors around the world, including companies in the industrial sector, have joined forces to meet the Sustainable Development Goal that aims to improve water quality by reducing pollution, eliminating discharge, and minimizing the release of chemicals and hazardous residues in order to increase the percentage of treated and recycled water worldwide1.

At Alianza Team, as a company committed to making a difference on the planet, we seek to minimize our direct environmental impact in our operations. Guided by this principle, we develop strategies that allow us to improve the efficiency of water use, its recirculation, and recyclability to reduce pressure on natural sources of supply. One of these strategies is our BlueLife project, an initiative in which we undergo a water treatment process that makes it  suitable for animal and plant species.

About BlueLife

BlueLife was introduced in 2019 by a group of collaborators in Colombia within the framework of a corporate initiative aimed at promoting innovation. It stood out for its innovative proposal with a direct impact on the environment, animal life, and plant life. Today, it is well-established and begins with a filtration process that removes solid matter from the water. Subsequently, the water passes through ventilation and cooling towers where filters help reduce contaminants, improve oxygenation, and control the water temperature. In addition to this, we have biocontact tanks where we use plant species to mimic local ecosystems where fish life thrives. Simultaneously, these plants naturally filter the water through their roots. Our fish live in the treated water, and upon confirming that it is suitable for fish life, we discharge the treated water into the sewer, completing a sustainability cycle.

We make water a source of life

BlueLife allows us to demonstrate that the treated water in our company is suitable for life by serving as a home for 85 fish of 5 different species in our plants in Colombia and Mexico. Thanks to this project, we ensure that the discharged water not only complies with established regulations but also reduces damages on aquatic ecosystems.

3 Hypostomus Plecostomus fish

We are proud of the results we have achieved so far because in 2022 alone, we recycled 121,772 m³ of water at the corporate level. At Alianza Team, we will continue working to improve our environmental indicators and contribute positively to the future of ecosystems, the environment, natural resources, and the generations to come.
